Come Follow Me 23: Doctrine and Covenants 60-62

Come, Follow Me Lesson 23: Doctrine and Covenants 60-62

How has your testimony increased by studying the scriptures?

What does it mean to preach by the way? (See D&C 52:10)

Are we preaching by the way?

What is it that we should preach?

Faith in Jesus Christ. The first principles and ordinances of the gospel.

Do we share what we know? (See D&C 60:2)

The Lord is displeased when we aren’t courageous enough to share what we know and most assuredly believe.

Do you share the gospel when opportunities present themselves?

How does it help you to realize that the Lord knows your weaknesses and that He knows how to support you in your callings. (See D&C62:1)

(Scriptures that give us hope that the Lord will sustain us: D&C 60:4,7; 61:6,36.)

Some of the missionaries became very argumentative upon the waters. They doubted Joseph and Oliver; they probably doubted their abilities and the restored gospel. Often when we doubt and complain, there is nowhere to go but downstream.

Satan loves it when we argue, especially when we do so in our missionary companionships, our marriages, or our families.

If we trust in Him and if we love one another, He will support us in what we do, and we won’t perish. These brethren experienced the effects of Satan’s power upon the waters and the wrath of the Lord in allowing them to learn a valuable lesson.

We are promised that if we are faithful in preaching the gospel, we won’t be overcome by Satan or by dangerous waters.

Have you ever felt like you were drowning as a result of personal choices, attitudes and behavior that were not consistent with what you knew the Lord desired that you should be doing?

How are the gifts of testimony that we receive like talents?

“My light is but a little one…”

How does sharing our testimony affect our testimony?

How does keeping our mouths closed affect our testimony?

How does fear impede our progress?

Does fear keep you from sharing the gospel?

How do we rationalize what we think we can and cannot do?

Why is it important for us to remember that we are not in this by ourselves?

What is needed for us to be successful.

Read D&C 61:1 How does this scripture help put things into perspective for you?

Can you recall times in your life when the Lord has helped you overcome spiritual and/or physical difficulties?

How can remembering the past help us in the here and now, and also help us move into the future with faith?

When have you been anxiously engaged in a good cause?

Have you felt yourself being led by the Spirit without having to wait for instructions for every step?

Do you acknowledge the Lord’s hand in your life?

Read D&C58:27-28.

Are you living the Gospel Joyful?

D&C 61:36-39
