What can we learn about hope from the past martyrs for the gospel of Jesus Christ? Clearly, Satan wants to stop the work, and he encourages enemies of the Lord to believe that all will be halted if they get rid of key players. What has the result been in these past efforts? What will the result be as we face persecution, prosecution and possible death in the future? Saints selection. If it weren’t for dissenters and traitors, Joseph’s and Hyrum’s lives may not have been taken. People like William Law and Francis Higbee sought his death. “ The devil always sets up his kingdom at the very same time in opposition to God,” Joseph told the Saints Saints...

Come Follow Me 47: Doctrine and Covenants 133-134

Come, Follow Me Lesson 47: Doctrine and Covenants 133-134 Introduction: What answers are you seeking? Do you have faith to ask a humble question? How important are the truths found in the Doctrine and Covenants? (In the early church, the first publications were scattered and destroyed and the printing press attacked.) How has the Doctrine and Covenants helped you understand the Lord’s Latter-day work? See vs 37 and then vs 3. (Gospel preached to all; Lord will make bear His arm.) Section 133 was the last section at the time and it circles back to section one. Again, the Lord tells us to hearken (See sec 1:1 and 133:1) Hearken means to hear and obey (see Guide to the scriptures). The Lord gives us invitations to hearken in D&C 133:1-19. What are they? Which will you choose to concentrate on? 1. Hearken and hear the word of the Lord. 2. Prepare by attending the temple yourself. 2. Remember the Lord. Focus on the Savior. 3. Is vs. 3 a concern to you or a valued promise?...

Come Follow Me 46: Doctrine and Covenants 129-132

Come, Follow Me Lesson 46: Doctrine and Covenants 129-132 Introduction: Can you teach the gospel in such a way that those who have never been introduced to it can understand it? Is there room in your teaching for the Holy Ghost to be the main Teacher? What does it mean to you to understand that Jesus is a person just like you? What does it mean to you to understand that the relationships you have here on earth will continue in heaven (See D&C 130:1-2)? What does it mean to you to know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ, and the sealing powers within His gospel and His priesthood, that your family relationships can be eternal (see D&C 130:19)? We may all be asked to make sacrifices that will stretch us or break us. What is necessary for us to have in order to be able to follow the Lord and do as He commands us? How does D&C 132:50 strengthen your understanding of the Lord’s love for you? Doctrine and Covenants 130-131 or a compilation of notes written by...

Come Follow Me 45: Doctrine and Covenants 125-128

Come, Follow Me Lesson 45: Doctrine and Covenants 125-128 Introduction: What am I doing to make baptism available to my ancestors? What will I do? The doctrine of Baptism for the dead thrilled the saints. They eagerly were baptized for all their deceased relatives. Do I realize what I have and what is required of me? D&C 125:2 What can we do to gather together and be building up Zion in our communities? D&C 126 What are you doing to take especial care of your family? What are some things that we can do to serve family members? Make the service that you do for others precious gifts. Think of ways you can spend more time taking especial care of your family. D&C 127 How do you maintain optimism and choose joy in the midst of threats and false accusations. Rejoice and be exceeding glad. (See D&C 127:2-3) How has God watched over and protected you, your family, your ancestors, and His covenant people? Why is it important that we not stop doing the Lor...
