Come, Follow Me Lesson 39: Doctrine and Covenants 106-108

Introduction: How do we abide in the Savior?

D&C 107 shows how to organize priesthood offices and quorums. But more than that, the Lord teaches us about the priesthood order, as it was instituted in the days of Adam and restored in our day.

Through the priesthood, God gives all of His children the opportunity to receive the saving ordinances of the gospel and enjoy all the spiritual blessings of the church. We can have the privilege of receiving the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven and to have the heavens opened to us.

D&C 107:

Elder Neil L Anderson said, “The priesthood is the power and authority of God given for the salvation and blessing of all—men, women and children.”

How have the ordinances of the priesthood enriched your life on earth, and how are they helping to prepare you for the magnificent promises of eternity? What things are you doing to help your more fully receive the promised blessings, and what are you doing to help others receive them?

How can I uphold our leaders (107:22)? sustain, confidence, prayer of faith

Note the promised blessings in vs. 42 and 45. What are you inspired to to do to help your family receive these blessings?

How can you uphold those serving in these callings by your confidence, faith, and prayer (See vs 22)?

How can we apply the principles set for in vs. 27-31, 85 in our own family councils?
1. Seek unanimity
2. Pattern of governance
3. Avenue for appeal

4. Have a majority to make decisions that are blessed (quorum)

5. How to make these decisions set forth (vs 30-31)

Do you strive to learn and do your duties with all diligence (see vs 99-100)? Read Just Serve Guide Book!!!!

D&C 106 and 108:

How have you received “grace and assurance” to be able to “stand”? (Doctrine and Covenants 106:8).

How can you “be more careful henceforth in observing your vows,” or covenants? (Doctrine and Covenants 108:3).

How much time am I devoted to my callings? Do I listen when the Spirit calls? Am I diligently seeking the kingdom of heaven and its righteousness (106:3)?

What can I do to cause heaven to rejoice (106:6)?

Why do we need the Lord’s grace to be able to fulfill our callings (106:8)?

Why is it important for us to hear the word of the Lord and observe to do what He requires (108:1-3)?

How can we strengthen each other in our conversations, prayers, exhortations, encouragement, in everything (108:7)? How is vs 8 a reassurance to us if we are striving to follow the counsel in vs 7?
