Come Follow Me 26: Doctrine and Covenants 67-70

Come, Follow Me Lesson 26: Doctrine and Covenants 67-70 What is profitable to you? How do we know that the Lord desires all of His children to have access to holy writ? Are the revelations contained in the Doctrine and Covenants worth the riches of the whole earth to you? If we want to be able to see and know Jesus Christ with our hearts and minds, what do we need to do? (See D&C 67:10) Strip ourselves of jealousies and fears. Be humble. Continue in patience. (vs 13) Don’t let our minds turn back. Be worthy. (vs 14) Do we allow the imperfections of our leaders to give us occasion to question the inspiration that comes from the Lord through them? Do you have confidence that the words of the Lord's servants are the will of the Lord, the mind of the Lord and the power of God unto salvation? (see D&C 68:3-4) When have you been moved upon to speak by the power of the Holy Ghost? (see D&C 68:3-4) How important are the things which the Lord reveals through you? Do you h...

Come Follow Me 25: Doctrine and Covenants 64-66

Come, Follow Me Lesson 25: Doctrine and Covenants 62-66  Great things come from small efforts. We are required to forgive everyone. (D&C 64:10) Are we patient and diligent in building Zion? (vs. 33) How do we avoid becoming weary in well-doing? How does bickering and criticism hinder our own progress and hurt the Lord’s Church. Pride separates us and humility unifies us. Do we have trouble forgiving the Lord’s anointed like some of the early saints did? How do you feel when the Lord forgives you and you feel His acceptance? How did it make you feel when you chose to forgive someone else? Do you recognize the mercy the Lord has extended to you by inviting you to be a member of His Church? (64:4) What does it mean to seek occasion against someone? Why do we sometimes feel it’s necessary to prove we are right? How is it better to leave the judgment in the Lord’s hands? How are we afflicted when we don’t forgive others? If ye believe me, ye will labor while it is called toda...

Come Follow Me 24: Doctrine and Covenants 63

Come, Follow Me Lesson 24: Doctrine and Covenants 63 In D&C 63:64 we are learn “That which comes from above is sacred.” Why should we use care when we speak about sacred things? Why is it important to follow the Spirit when we share sacred things? Is the building up of Zion the most important temporal object in your view? Prophets have always faced hard criticism. Joseph Smith was no exception. Why do you thing that is? (It isn’t always an easy thing to put faith in something we don’t completely understand or can’t see as beneficial.) Ezra Booth was disappointed in the land of Zion, and he made it known. How does murmuring, contention, and dissension harm both the individual and the church? Booth ended up apostatizing. He became bitter, agnostic and lost the light that he had. He left Christianity altogether. On the other hand, Isaac Morely changed his bleak outlook. He sold his farm, moved back to Missouri. He was preserved through is doubs and later became a Bishop and a...

Come Follow Me 23: Doctrine and Covenants 60-62

Come, Follow Me Lesson 23: Doctrine and Covenants 60-62 How has your testimony increased by studying the scriptures? What does it mean to preach by the way? (See D&C 52:10) Are we preaching by the way? What is it that we should preach? Faith in Jesus Christ. The first principles and ordinances of the gospel. Do we share what we know? (See D&C 60:2) The Lord is displeased when we aren’t courageous enough to share what we know and most assuredly believe. Do you share the gospel when opportunities present themselves? How does it help you to realize that the Lord knows your weaknesses and that He knows how to support you in your callings. (See D&C62:1) (Scriptures that give us hope that the Lord will sustain us: D&C 60:4,7; 61:6,36.) Some of the missionaries became very argumentative upon the waters. They doubted Joseph and Oliver; they probably doubted their abilities and the restored gospel. Often when we doubt and complain, there is nowhere to go...
