Come Follow Me 9: Doctrine and Covenants 18-19
Come, Follow Me Lesson 9: Doctrine and Covenants 18-19
Have you ever personally suffered for someone else’s wrong doing?
Did you do so willingly or begrudgingly?
Is your life
personally affected because of injustices?
Does that affect how
you feel towards other people?
What do you know about Jesus Christ
and His mission?
How do you feel about His role as the Savior of
the world?
What are you willing to do to be His disciple?
What
does He ask of us all?
How do you view repentance?
Have you heard the voice of the Lord? How does He convey His messages to you? (D&C 18:34-36)
Is the D&C helping you to hear His voice more? What can we do to hear His voice more clearly?
We are all invited to repent in order to become His disciples. We are invited to enter His covenant path and follow Him so that He can bring us to Eternal Life.
What will happen if we do not repent? (D&C 19:15-20)
Why was the Savior willing to suffer for us?
(D&C 18:10-13) Substitute in your own name. Can you feel how personalized the atonement is for you?
(D&C 18:16-19) Because of your great worth, our Heavenly Father was willing to sacrifice His only Begotten Son, and Jesus was willing to be the Sacrifice.
(D&C18:21-25) We have taken upon
ourselves the name of Jesus Christ. When we are baptized and receive
the Holy Ghost we are spiritually born of Him and become His sons and
daughters. (Mosiah 5:7)
How has your love for Him
increased as your understanding of His sacrifice increases?
What does it feel like when the Lord
withdraws His Spirit from us?
Can we abide that?
Can we
abide His presence? What must we do to abide His glory?
John
15:13 (Greater love) Mosiah 3:7 (Great suffering, blood from every
pore) Alma 7:11-12 (takes our pains and weaknesses) D&C 18:10-13
What do we can through the Atonement of Jesus Christ besides
the remission of our sins through repentance and obedience?
Have you ever considered the cost
that Martin Harris paid so that the world might have the Book of
Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ?
What has the
Lord asked you to sacrifice?
How can we make our sacrifices with
joy and gladness in our hearts? (D&C 19:15-20)
I thought
about Yvonne and her sacrifice in helping Brianna and her family.
When we remember His purpose, and when we remember our purposes; when we keep our eyes on Him and on our mission and upon our inheritance, we can serve better and find joy, even in our hardships and sorrows.
D&C 19:23
The Savior invites us to learn of
Him? How does learning the Savior’s truths bring you peace?
How
do you walk in the meekness of His Spirit?
