D&C 89: The Word of Wisdom

How is a help to have a spouse who supports you in your spiritual progress (see heading)?

How will hearkening to the guidance of the Lord’s prophet in our day work for our temporal and spiritual salvation (see vs. 2)?

How has the Word of Wisdom been a blessing to you? Are the promises only physical (see vs. 18-21)? How have the promises been fulfilled in your life?


D&C 90: The First Presidency

What is an important element in the forgiveness of sins (see D&C 90:1)?

How can we liken verse 5 to us in our day? How should we receive messages from the First Presidency?

What is the ministry of the First Presidency (see vs. 8-9)? Is the membership and are the missionaries prepared to help fulfill the promises of the day that is prophesied in vs. 10-11. How should we continue and proceed in our own ministries and how can we support the First presidency in theirs (see vs. 12)?

How have the words of our First Presidency unfolding the mysteries of the kingdom to you (see D&C 90:14)? How do they set in force all affairs of the Church and Kingdom (see vs. 16)?

How can vs. 24 be an invaluable reminder and protection to us?

Who is the Lord well pleased with (see vs. 35)? Who rejoices when we repent (see vs. 34)? How long will the Lord suffer with us (see vs. 34-37)?

Come, Follow Me Lesson 5: Doctrine and Covenants 6-9   I am impressed with Oliver Cowdery’s thirst for truth, not just for secular knowledge. That’s an admirable trait to have. Do I want to know the truth, or do I just want others to follow my train of thought? Do I want to share truth? Why does sharing truth have to be done by invitation, and not by force? When Oliver asked the Smith family concerning their son Joseph, the plates, and the heavenly visitations, this was something he wanted to believe. Joseph Sr. and Lucy told Oliver to ask God in prayer. Are answers received through prayer any less valid that conclusions drawn in labs?
